Urban Community Partners, LLC was established in September 2001 by Ian Gillis and Keith McCoy–two Senior Executives of one of the Country's premier homebuilding companies. The need for Urban Community Partners, LLC was born out of an increasing realization that the post WWII development paradigm, particularly in California, had shifted and that the days of "cookie cutter" subdivisions were fast coming to an end. In city after city the debate about Smart Growth vs. Urban Sprawl has taken center stage. Issues such as the provision of affordable and workforce housing to sustain the fabric of a community's human infrastructure; redeveloping adjacent to existing development and infrastructure versus paving over natural habitats and farmlands, creating pedestrian friendly places, and using sustainable planning and building practices have gained National attention and favor. Urban Community Partners, LLC was established to address these critical issues.
