A public outreach and design process was engaged that encouraged public and key stakeholder participation. Groups such as the Steelhead Association, The Carmel Valley River Watershed, Carmel Valley Land Use Advisory Committee, County of Monterey Planning, Public Works, Sheriff, Fire Department, Big Sur Land Trust, Carmel Valley Trails Association, Water Districts, various Homeowner’s Associations and other neighborhood and interested parties were invited to provide input and comment about the proposed new neighborhood. The goal of public planning process is to help build consensus and a common vision in a community noted for its “anti-growth” sentiment.
