Due to the removal of irrigated course use, Rancho Cañada Village will require less water from the aquifer, approximately 75 to 100 acre feet per year savings. This water will remain in the ground and be used to enhance riparian and steelhead habitat on over one-mile of the Carmel Valley River, including a 36-acre natural park restored with native habitat plant species. Additionally, by targeting homes for local workers, and placing them in a location convenient to retail shopping, traffic trips will be reduced significantly along Highway One and Carmel Valley Road.
