Downtown Salinas Salinas, CA
Downtown Salinas, California, is long overdue for a transformation. The downtown districts such as the historic retail Main Street, government center, train station and adjacent residential areas are disrupted by large surface parking lots, wide one-way streets and underutilized buildings. As the City and County seat and home of the State and Federal courts, The National Steinbeck Center and a host of other private and government related uses, significant jobs currently exist in the downtown area.
The goal for Salinas Renaissance Partners is to develop a long term vision for the revitalization of the downtown area to make it more pedestrian friendly, increase retail shopping and nightlife, increase residential opportunities and create a Transit Oriented Mixed Use Development adjacent to the existing train station. Using an extensive public planning process, and working closely with local government and key stakeholders, an overall vision and economic plan, including specific catalyst projects, will ultimately become the genesis of a rebirth for the downtown area.
